Meet the Course Presenter
About the Creator
Marilena Peverall is Head of Secondary School Teacher Training at the University of Buckingham, bringing more than two decades of experience across secondary, further and higher education.
With an academic background in microbiology and immunology, she has spent over 22 years working in science education, combining subject expertise with a passion for developing effective teaching practice. Following her teacher training, Marilena began her career at More House School in Frensham before becoming Head of Biology at King Edward's School, Witley.
Throughout her career, she has developed a particular interest in supporting teachers to refine their practice, foster professional growth, and create meaningful learning experiences for their students.
Alongside her work in teacher education, Marilena's professional interests include authentic assessment, cross-curricular approaches to science education, and the role of coaching in developing educators.
As a committed lifelong learner, she is currently completing a Doctorate in Education (EdD), where her research explores the contribution of coaching within education.
Drawing on both her leadership experience and current research, Marilena brings an evidence-informed and practical perspective to coaching, helping educators build the confidence, skills and reflective habits that underpin lasting professional development.
